Opportunity Shop

The Rotary Opportunity Shop is located at 4 William Street, Loxton (just across from Woolworths).

We are proud of our Op Shop, celebrating 60 years of operation in 2023. After all that experience we’ve learnt a thing or two. Visitors often comment positively about the range of items we have for sale and the organisation of the displays, making browsing easy.

Our generous community donates many pre-loved items, then our wonderful, enthusiastic team of volunteers sorts, cleans, and displays items suitable for sale. This includes clothing to toys, books to puzzles, electrical appliances to jewellery and linen to artworks. You will be amazed at the quality and variety of things that are donated. Many items have had little use – some are even brand new!

Clothing is sorted by style and size, just like a full-price fashion shop.

There are many benefits of the Op Shop including:

  • Sale proceeds are used by the Rotary Club of Loxton for worthy projects, locally and further afield.
  • Goods are gathered, packed and provided to those in need such as victims of family violence, natural disasters, war and civil strife – through Rotary entities or other trusted organisations.

Anyone that would benefit from very low cost essentials, or those that just love a bargain, have an easily accessible, friendly and helpful place to browse and shop.

Excess stock does not go to waste, with the ‘Rotary Australia Repurposing Equipment’ organisation in Adelaide (RARE – formerly known as Donations in Kind) packing many items into containers to be sent to those in need overseas.

HELP OUR VOLUNTEERS

If you are unsure whether an item is suitable to donate, ask yourself if you would give it to a friend!

Clothing must be free of damage, tears or excess wear. Other objects must be complete and in safe, working order. If an item needs repair or intensive cleaning it is likely to be unsuitable.

So many items need to be dumped that volunteer time and money are wasted disposing of unsaleable goods, so if in doubt, throw it out yourself, so we don’t have to.

Your support donating suitable items is highly valued, and assisting our volunteers by not wasting their time is appreciated.
